On 23rd June 2026, we opened the doors of the Palladio Group Innovation Hub in Gossolengo (PC) for “Pharma Labels“, an exclusive event dedicated to the future of pharmaceutical labels.
Organised in collaboration with outstanding partners such as Avery Dennison, Marchesini Group, SEA Vision, and with the prestigious participation of Dompé Farmaceutici, the Open Day proved to be an excellent opportunity for discussion for the entire supply chain. At the heart of the day were the current and future challenges of the sector: from the regulatory adjustments required by the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) in Italy and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), to the search for solutions capable of combining high performance, full traceability, and environmental sustainability.
Perspectives from industry leaders
During the morning, technical presentations and networking sessions provided concrete answers to the needs of the pharmaceutical industry. Here are the main topics addressed by the speakers:
– Avery Dennison: Silvio Margutti (Sales Manager Industry), Claudia Merlino (Sales Rep & Account Manager), and Benjamin Read (Market Development Manager) illustrated the transformative potential of RFID technologies for the healthcare sector. Great interest was sparked by the innovative line of 100% “PET-free” RFID tags, designed to reduce carbon emissions with a view to a circular economy.
– Palladio Group: Emily S. Turilli Ghisolfi (Innovation Manager & Head of the Innovation Hub) and Matteo Montemezzo (Marketing & Communication Manager) shared our expertise in the design and production of specialty labels. The spotlight was on advanced solutions, such as tamper-evident security labels, integrated RFID labels to support the supply chain and patient safety, and smart devices to protect the integrity of commercial and investigational drugs.
– Dompé Farmaceutici: Vito De Berardinis (CMOs Supply, Primary Distribution, Global Supply PM, Packaging & Serialisation Associate Director) outlined a detailed overview of the recent regulatory updates to the FMD Directive in Italy, delving into the strategic role of the Italian pharmaceutical Bollino on the market.
– Marchesini Group: Marco Conti (Product Development Manager) focused on latest-generation automation. Advanced labelling machines and complete packaging lines were presented, with a particular focus on modular horizontal solutions integrated with robotic cells to maximise production efficiency.
– SEA Vision: Luca Fiorina (Business Development Manager) concluded by reiterating the key role of RFID technology for the security and traceability of the supply chain. Among the various innovations presented, he explored centralised palletisation management: a system that, using mass reading gates and a platform, automates data aggregation, optimising space and reducing costs.
From theory to practice: Demo Rooms and plant tour
In the afternoon, the event transformed into an immersive experience. Through the Interactive Demo Rooms, guests were able to test first-hand the effectiveness of the technologies presented in the morning.
The day then concluded with a guided tour of our label production plant. It was a unique opportunity for participants to observe in real-time the efficiency of our industrial printing processes, the labelling machines in action, and the sophisticated artificial vision systems used for quality control.
